Pain killing ingredients
There are two types of painkillers or analgesics: non-narcotic and narcotic.
Narcotic painkillers are related to morphine and are generally only used by doctors for treating certain types of severe pain. Non-narcotic painkillers include paracetamol and the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as aspirin and ibuprofen.
Narcotics act directly on the brain and spinal cord to alter the perception of pain. Narcotics act like endorphins (the brain's natural painkillers). Non-narcotics act mainly at the site of pain by preventing stimulation of the nerve endings.
