HIGH TEMPERATURE
What is a High Temperature or Fever?
Your temperature is normally considered to be too high if it’s 38ºC (100.4ºF) or above. If your temperature’s close to this, check it again after two to three hours.
A high temperature or fever is caused by the release of certain chemicals from the immune system, usually as a result of infection or inflammation. Common symptoms of fever are a chill as the body responds by shivering to raise the temperature. Once the temperature goes up, the person often feels warm. When the high temperature starts decreasing, the person may start to sweat.
